Sometimes Asked Questions

So are you going to address the Covid-19 elephant?2022-04-13T09:00:25+00:00

Yes, right here. As I am writing this, A part of China is currently locking down its residence again due to a new spike, yet here in Contra Costa County case rates are low and vaccine rates are high. We are both in and not in a pandemic; for extensive purposes the disease (here) is endemic. Be that as it may, for the safety of others and most importantly the mom-to-be, we are gathering outside and are not hosting people at our house at this time. While a county mask mandate is not currently in effect for outside gatherings, there is no shame in wearing one if you should so desire.

We are asking all attendees to abide by our Covid Courtesy Agreement. What’s that you ask? See the next FAQ item.

What is the Covid Courtesy Agreement?2022-04-13T09:38:46+00:00

By coming to our event you agree to abide by our Covid Courtesy Agreement.

  1. You assume a non-zero percent risk of exposure to the Covid-19 Novel Coronavirus regardless of precautions taken to mitigate risks by party hosts and fellow party attendees.
  2. On the unlikely chance that you contract Covid-19 from, and are able to track your exposure to, an asymptomatic attendee (or host) you relinquish any right to indemnification. Specifically but not limited to cost of treatment in case of illness, pain or suffering, or death.
  3. Most importantly, you will do your best to mitigate your own risk to exposure to Covid-19 in the days leading to the party by following standard precautionary guidelines as issued by county, state, and federal governing agencies. Should you be experiencing any Covid-19 related symptoms the morning of the party, please DO NOT COME TO THE PARTY. We know how much it sucks to miss out on a party, especially one with awesome Carrot Cake, but it’s better than a chance that some of us may have to attend a funeral.
  4. 5-10 days following the party should you develop symptoms of Covid-19, you agree to get a certified administered PCR Test, and upon positive test results, you agree to notify the party hosts in order for us to provide exposure notifications for contract tracing to all party attendees.

Is this a little much? Yes, yes it is. But hopefully one day in the not so distant future we can go back to social gatherings with no warnings besides the (not responsible for your hangover tomorrow) signs.

Will anyone be at the house or should I head straight to the park?2022-04-13T09:22:39+00:00

Understandable question. We expect everyone to be at the park for the duration of the party. That said, there may be seldom occasions where one or several of the party hosts may be at the house –especially if you’re running on Iranian Standard Time (IE Mehdi Time). For good measure, just come to the park.

I’ve never seen your home! Are you bringing guests over?2022-04-13T09:27:18+00:00

Understandable, the last time we had any kind of gathering outside of really close friends it was just after we got married. Less than a year later the collective party life of the world came to a crashing halt. We are currently TBD on whether we are going to bring small groups of people over from the party to tour the house as the weeks and months leading up to the party has been full of us remodeling and we may not be in a position where we want to show off our mess.

Can I bring anything for the party?2022-04-13T09:32:04+00:00

Absolutely! Picnic blankets, your favorite lawn chair, possibly something that can provide shade would likely add to your own comfort outside on a Saturday in late May. How about food? Dessert? Drinks?

While we aren’t calling it a Pot Luck, if you want to bring a pie of your choosing or another type of dessert aside from the Carrot Cake we will be serving, that would be welcome.

(Mehdi says don’t forget sunscreen!)

I have a question that isn’t answered here.2022-04-13T09:33:29+00:00

No worries! If you have our number please let us know via text, or email us, or ask it in the RSVP Section of the site.

For Thanksgiving we took an impromptu trip to Vienna to see Mehdi’s relatives and surprise his 96 year old grandfather with the special news. Three days after arriving Austria lockdown due to Covid. So we hopped another plane and traded kebaps for croissants.

Just days after the results were conclusive we went to Disneyland to celebrate Halloween. It was our first time visiting the park since the onset of the pandemic.

It would be our last Disney trip before the accompaniment of strollers; the last Halloween before themed family costumes.

We Need Your RSVP

Party planning is hard. Doubly so when it’s been years since we’ve last done it. That’s why the tech lords gave us contact forms.
